Having problem with Joomla 1.7 to Joomla 2.5 update?

If you keep getting errors:

JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find XML setup file        
Update path does not exist        
JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find XML setup file        
Unable to detect manifest file

Try the other update way.


The error may appears while Joomla 1.7 to Joomla 2.5 update process via administrator panel: Extensions -> Extension Manager -> Update

So it's not the moment to panic :) but try other way.

Download the latest Joomla 2.5 update package from here.
At this moment it's Joomla 2.5.6 update package -> Joomla_2.5.6-Stable-Update_Package.zip
Make sure you downloaded the correct package, see the screenshot:

updatepackage256

Then navigate Extensions -> Extensions Manager -> Install and upload & install the package.
