Joomla 3.4 is out there!
Yesterday, new release of Joomla 3.4.0 was announced by Joomla.org. It introduces many new features as well as it fixes over 700 bugs that were reported so far.
Let's take a closer look on new features.
New features
Starting from version 3.4.0, Joomla core will be lighter. The weblinks component will be no longer included to the core and it will be available to download as separate extension from JED. Please note that weblinks will be not removed from your current Joomla installation after updating.
Another feature worth mentioning is No CAPTCHA reCAPTCHA. Google introduced a new version of reCAPTCHA in December 2014 and now it is available for Joomla users. This way your forms will be much more protected against spam.
Now, there is also a possibility to edit modules on the front-end of your site without the need to use the admin back-end. This way administration of websites becomes much easier and simpler.
Last feature worth mentioning is integration of Composer. In Joomla 3.3 version, the Joomla! Framework was included to the CMS, but the method in which it was installed into the filesystem was not compatible with the method on how Composer installs code. Now the Composer is integrated into the CMS along with the Joomla! Framework.
EF4 and EF3 Framework compatibility
EF4 Framework as well as EF3 Framework is fully compatible with Joomla 3.4. The only difference that you may encounter is the look of the selectboxes, since the chosen script was applied for them. We will consider some CSS adjustements within the next update of frameworks' plugins.
